Bonnie made it to Japan and is with her friend now, she posted pictures on her facebook. Jacob and I went "camping" for 3 days in the motorhome, his most favorite thing to do in the world. Everything is going well here, and I hope Bonnie has as easy time coming back as she did going over. They even made all the train connections from Tokyo to Yokuska. Take care everyone, sending my love....Dad

Hey, it has been a really long time since anyone wrote....Mel here, Baby Devon is doing well, we have still been traveling and Bonnie is getting set to go to Japan and see where she was born on the 3rd of Feb for a couple weeks. I gotta stay here and work, pay for the trip ya know. Jacob and I will have fun, gonna take the MH and camp, the two of us. Hawaii was fun, I worked, Bonnie and Jake drove the convertable around. Jacob remembered his favorite beach, (Ala Moana) Wish I was rich, would take everyone I know over there for a week. Life just slows down there. Stay healthy all, haven't heard from many of you for a while, we and I still have the same phone #, we would love to hear from you. Love to all, Dad

We had a great visit to Spokane to see Mel's brothers for his birthday. It was good to see them all. Andrew, Bree & Devon came with us. Jacob thought it was great having Devon along. He just loves him, as we all do.

I can see Jarom saying that. =) We had a great time on the 4th at Danny's. Jacob loved the fireworks and really loved the swimming pool. Mom's memorial turned out wonderful. She would be very pleased, esp with the Navy & patriot guards being there.

We had a great time on the 4th - pyrotechnics and family make a great mix? Alessa and Jarom loved the daytime fireworks (smoke bombs, parachutes, etc), and were looking for more once we ran out.I brought them into the garage to show them the big package of evening fireworks that Larry purchased, and the children were wide-eyed. "Whoa!" Jarom exclaimed... "Let's light THAT!"

Jarom is so funny, I can hardly wait to come play with them all. Devon is doing well. 2 lbs. 11 oz. and still growing.

Jarom gave us quite a laugh today. We asked him if he had his pull-ups on underneath his pajamas. Not one for discretion, he laboriously dropped his pants, held his arms out, examined his underclothing with care, and then confidently proclaimed: ‘Nope!’ That determination complete, he proceeded to waddle from the middle of the living room into the bathroom to make the necessary adjustment.

We would like to honor the memory and deeds of a fellow hero, not reported by the media.
Navy Petty Officer Mike Monsoor (April 5, 1981 – September 29, 2006)
PO2 (EOD2) (Explosive Ordnance Disposal)
This was a fitting send-off for a warrior hero.
I am very proud of our military.

PO2 (EOD2) (Explosive Ordnance Disposal)
Mike Monsoor, a Navy EOD Technician, was
Awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor
Posthumously for jumping on a grenade in Iraq,
Giving his life to save his fellow Seals.
(Notice: Mike was not a Navy SEAL, he was EOD.
He gave his life to save a group of Navy SEALS.)
During Mike Monsoor's funeral in San Diego,
As his coffin was being moved from the hearse
To the grave site at Ft. Rosecrans National
Cemetery, SEAL's were lined up on both sides
Of the pallbearers route forming a column of two's,
With the coffin moving up the center. As Mike's
Coffin passed, each SEAL, having removed his
Gold Trident from his uniform, slapped it down
embedding the Trident in the wooden coffin...
The slaps were audible from across the cemetery; by the time the coffin arrived grave side, it looked as though it had a gold inlay from all the Tridents pinned to it.Awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor

Andrew sent in a story of a rare happening - a young boy who touched lives so deeply that the military allowed him to be given an honorable burial. Very touching, thanks for the link!
