Jarom is so funny, I can hardly wait to come play with them all. Devon is doing well. 2 lbs. 11 oz. and still growing.

Jarom gave us quite a laugh today. We asked him if he had his pull-ups on underneath his pajamas. Not one for discretion, he laboriously dropped his pants, held his arms out, examined his underclothing with care, and then confidently proclaimed: ‘Nope!’ That determination complete, he proceeded to waddle from the middle of the living room into the bathroom to make the necessary adjustment.

Baby Devon is still doing well and gaining weight, almost 1 lb 15 oz. I came back frome Conn. today, Uneventful flights which are the best kind, it was a good audit. Sure is good to be home though. Jacob even came to me and gave me a hug!! Cocoa kept barking and wanting attention, at least the dog missed me. More later to all of you, All my love...Dad Mel.

Baby Devon James Gibbons was born Monday May 4, 2009 @3:10 pm. He weighed 1 lb. 12 oz. He will have to stay in the hospital until about his due date, July 24. He is doing well, a real fighter, but needs a lot of prayers. Bree is recovering well, driving back & forth to the UW hospital daily. Andrew is working and going to school but they spend the weekends with Devon. Please keep them all in your prayers? Bonnie

Hello all, I'm at home holding down the fort with Jacob, Mom and Andrew are at the U of W hospital with Bree, looks like we may have a baby this afternoon. We'll be calling and letting you all know. I go back to work tomorrow, desk only, no running around on the subs for a couple more weeks. We love you all, seems like for once most of the family is healthy at the same time, (lucky I don't count pregnancy as a disease) More later, Dad.

Yea, Mel should have gone to work yesterday. He & Jacob were riding the quad & had a collision with a tree. Mel is in the hospital. Jacob rescued him and got Mel and the quad safely home. They were about 1/2 mile away down the hill in the woods. Jacob is our hero! Now if he would only go to school. Jacob seems fine by the way.

Ya, Dave may have an advantage in a shooting contest, I stayed home today because of eye trouble, couldn't see going to work today. I should have though, Bonnie works me harder here than I ever do at work. Jacob made it to school today, we get outside inbetween the showers. Give us a call, we have funny news about Jacob. Love to you all, Dad.

We would like to honor the memory and deeds of a fellow hero, not reported by the media.
Navy Petty Officer Mike Monsoor (April 5, 1981 – September 29, 2006)
PO2 (EOD2) (Explosive Ordnance Disposal)
This was a fitting send-off for a warrior hero.
I am very proud of our military.

PO2 (EOD2) (Explosive Ordnance Disposal)
Mike Monsoor, a Navy EOD Technician, was
Awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor
Posthumously for jumping on a grenade in Iraq,
Giving his life to save his fellow Seals.
(Notice: Mike was not a Navy SEAL, he was EOD.
He gave his life to save a group of Navy SEALS.)
During Mike Monsoor's funeral in San Diego,
As his coffin was being moved from the hearse
To the grave site at Ft. Rosecrans National
Cemetery, SEAL's were lined up on both sides
Of the pallbearers route forming a column of two's,
With the coffin moving up the center. As Mike's
Coffin passed, each SEAL, having removed his
Gold Trident from his uniform, slapped it down
embedding the Trident in the wooden coffin...
The slaps were audible from across the cemetery; by the time the coffin arrived grave side, it looked as though it had a gold inlay from all the Tridents pinned to it.Awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor

Andrew sent in a story of a rare happening - a young boy who touched lives so deeply that the military allowed him to be given an honorable burial. Very touching, thanks for the link!
